Lil Kesh leaving Olamide’s YBNL? It seems it is the season of leaving or dumping of record labels. Lil Kesh is being rumoured to be on his way out of Olamide’s Yahoo Boys No Laptop (YBNL) record label under which he was shot to lime light. Lil Kesh’s contract has allegedly expired with YBNL and the Shoki singer has refused to renew it. The lewd rapper and singer contract was reported to have expired some weeks back and the young singer is yet to renew it. Sources in the know said Lil Kesh is floating his own label to be called YAGI after his last album.
According to
Naijaloaded, Lil Kesh is said to dump YBNL by May ending if he do not
renew his contract. This is the main reason many said Olamide has
refused to shoot video of any of Lil Kesh newly released song from his
new album YAGI.
Meanwhile, Olamide started the first beef in the industry because of Lil
Kesh. Olamide openly challenged the credibility of Headies award when
Don Jazzy Mavin Record artist Reekado Banks beat Lil Kesh to the Next
Rated award.
Olamide had stated in an
interview in 2015 that artists are not expected to stay too long with
his label. He stated that YBNL is not a music label but that YBNL only
signs artistes on a two-year deal. According to him, YBNL is a movement
where young artistes are given platform to success and then move on with
their careers elsewhere.
Olamide had said: “Saying Kesh or Viktoh or anyone else is going to
leave me is kind of shitty. I want these guys to be great, not to be
slaves or dependent,” Olamide said. “All the guys I signed just (do) two
years contract and when they are independent, my prayer is for them not
to sign any deal with a record label (again).”
May be Lil Kesh is taking a clue from this but can Lil Kesh survive
outside YBNL?
