Special Anti-Cultism Squad, SACS, said no
fewer than 140 suspects that included,
kidnappers, cultists and armed robbers
have been convicted, while 10 were
freed by various courts in the state
within two months.
This was disclosed by SACS Commander
in the state, Mr Bako Gado yesterday
while addressing newsmen in his office
at Enugwu Ukwu,adding that the
suspects were mostly arrested in Obosi,
Nkpor, Ogidi, Ihiala and Awka before
their arraignment in court.
He expressed satisfaction that with the
co-operation of the people in the state,
expecting that criminal activities would
be curtailed within the shortest possible
time, adding that Governor Willie Obiano
had through the Commissioner of Police,
Mr. Karma Hosea, been giving assistance
to the police in the state, and the
Command has been receiving enormous
assistance from the government in the
state to flush out criminals.
On the leadership crisis rocking Otoko
Isuaniocha community, Awka North
local Government Area, in which one
Chief Anthony Onyeagolu accused the
police of being biased in investigating
the crisis, he urge Otoko Isuaniocha
community to make peace in their area
instead of accusing the police that has
stepped in to ensure peace.
Chief Onyeagolu had also accused the
Police in the state of extorting money
from detained Otoko people, but the
SACS Commander regretted that some
enemies of progress in the community
that are self-centered have continued to
peddle false allegations against the
command, adding that they want the
crisis to continue so they can hold the
community hostage, by fomenting
trouble aimed at enriching themselves,
since they thrive in crises at the
detriment of innocent people.
